  Chapter One

Sol Daniels knew the first change was hard for everyone, but no one had told him how uncomfortable it was. He could sense his wolf underneath his skin, itching to be let out. It was eager to burst free from its prison of fragile human skin and bones, run out into the open, and rub shoulders with another of its kind.

Rub shoulders and slough off fur, so human skin could touch, kiss and caress.

Mate. The beast sharing half his soul needed and craved its mate, some strange wolf Sol didn’t know and wasn’t interested in knowing. Sol gritted his teeth as another wave of unwanted longing surged through him.

There was no avoiding mating season, yet the change still wouldn’t come. He glanced up at the full moon.

For crying out loud, he was a phone tech. He manned phones by day and spent the nights in front of his computer, devouring one new game after the next. His monotonous daily cycle had been broken one evening while heading home from work. Dragged behind an alleyway, frozen in shock, and unable to do anything as his hooded captor sunk his canines into the tender side of his neck. Only later did he realize he’d been bitten by a werewolf. He even had to call in sick a few days to adjust to the sudden change.

Teeth clattering against the night wind, Sol closed his denim jacket. He had hoped that finding someone, finding a release, would appease the beast and give him some peace. The chances of someone taking a scrawny geek home for the evening, heck, even for just a few hours, was next to none. If he could just get through this one night, then it was a long time until the next full moon.

Right. As if it were that easy.

“Wandering aimlessly around the dark isn’t going to get me laid either,” Sol muttered, staring around him.

Was he really doing this? It was a Thursday night and on Thursday nights he usually strapped on his virtual armor, sword and throwing axes. On Thursdays, he was Agos the Terrible Troll, wrecking havoc on the unsuspecting denizens of EverTrolls Online.

  Certainly not pathetic Sol Daniels.

He wasn’t even sure which neighborhood he was in. He glanced around. If he hadn’t been looking carefully, he’d have missed the small, subtle sign pointing down a flight of stairs. It read “The Ram” in simple block letters. The enormous bouncer at the deceivingly simple entrance looked Sol up and down.

Gyrating music thumped from inside the pub. Was it a pub? Sol might just have made a mistake in assuming that. No wonder the bouncer gave his Star Wars shirt and ratty jeans a hard look.

  “Sorry. Wrong place,” Sol said.

The bouncer didn’t seem to hear him. He leaned uncomfortably close to sniff at Sol.

“New wolf, eh? Go right on in. The club is going to be in full swing soon.”

  Sol was perplexed.

Club? Before he could protest the bouncer nudged him forward. The music hurt his ears. The wolf inside him whined a pathetic needy sound. All around the surprisingly contemporary and sleek space couples, threesomes, and foursomes were dancing, swaying, and were nestled in shadowed corners.

Sol occasionally glimpsed a hint of flesh, or a lot of flesh, clad in all sorts of latex and leather-wear. He swallowed, suddenly feeling lost. Was it too late to head back outside? The wolf inside him furiously thumped its tail, demanding and wanting its pound of flesh. Sol knew most of the people in the club were shifters by their feel and scent.

Catching sight of the bar, Sol breathed in a sigh of relief. Finally, something familiar and very much near his comfort zone. Beers and peanuts in front of the PC. Easy peasy.

“I’ll have a drink or two and then leave,” he told himself, settling himself on one of the bar stools.

Sol expected a miserable night staring, watching and yearning, but a sultry blonde clad in nothing much, took the empty seat next to time and fixed him with a wink and purr.

“New wolf, if you’re looking for a wild first mating, I’ll be happy to fix you up.”

  “I, u-uh, what?”

No one had ever approached him before in his entire life. He was new to this shifter thing too, practically a virgin. Did every shifter in the room know he was new? What the hell was a first mating?

Sol’s cheeks grew hot. The blonde pressed one perfectly painted fingernail into his cheek and her scent flooded his senses. Sol’s cock felt strained inside his jeans.

She smelled sensual, feminine and feline. Feline? Well at this point, species doesn’t matter. I’ll even take a werepoodle.

“I can teach you so many things, little wolf,” she purred.

“Fuck off, bitch. This little wolf’s mine,” someone suddenly snarled.

Sol gulped. It was big hulking someone. The woman made a face, but scampered off at the man’s growl.

Sol blinked up at the man, feeling a little unnerved. He didn’t want trouble, certainly not from a muscled, leather-wearing and tattooed biker. The instinct to flee didn’t come though. Sheer curiosity made him stay.

“Don’t run away, sunshine. I have no intentions of hurting you. I’ll introduce myself properly. I’m Aries Sanders and I work as a detective for the city’s police force.”

“My name isn’t sunshine, it’s Sol,” he said defensively. Was Aries really a cop, or did the man just enjoy playing with him?

He was unaware of clenching his fist on the counter, but when Aries’ large and inked hand reached out to touch his arm, every nerve in his body woke up. His pulse threatened to leap out of his skin. Aries was warm. Very warm, and he smelled all wolf.

  “Are you really a detective?”

Aries answered him by pulling aside his leather jacket and flashing his very official-looking police badge at him. Then he went on, apparently unperturbed. “Does Sol mean sun in Spanish, or is it French?”

Aries’ eyes were a deep shade of blue, and they glinted dangerously with unconcealed interest in his tanned rough face.

“Don’t know. What do you care?” Sol expected the detective to leave, but Aries only looked at him with unnerving interest.

“I think I want to call you sunshine, Sol. It’ll be a special nickname between the two of us.”

“I don’t even know who the hell you are.”

“I intend to rectify that, Sol.”

The traitorous beast inside him was doing more than whining, it surged to the surface of his skin, making his entire body break out into sweat. No. No. No. Anyone but him. His wolf didn’t listen. It wanted. It craved.

“Not you,” Sol wasn’t aware of whispering the words out loud, but his voiced resistance only made the grin on Aries’ face wider. Obscene almost.

“Not me? Your body is saying otherwise, sunshine. It’s betraying how you really feel.”

Aries had stopped touching his arm, and Sol didn’t like the fact the large man broke contact.

  “Tell me you don’
t want me. Tell me you don’t want me to take you home and give you what you need Sol, and I’ll leave and never bother you again.”

“Just like that?” Sol’s mouth felt dry. “How do you know what I need?”

  Aries knew the truth.

His own jeans felt unbelievably tight and strained against him. Too much. He was wearing too many clothes.

“You didn’t wander into The Ram by accident, Sol. Those who come here always know why they entered those doors on some subconscious level. You need someone to take control, to dominate you. To surrender yourself completely to. I can be that person.”

“This is all wrong. I made a mistake coming here.”

Sol was ready to leap out of his seat and run out of the club doors. Was Aries right? Had he come here knowing what he wanted? How did Aries know what he wanted?

Sure, he’d been curious about the lifestyle. He’d watched endless porn, like any other men, and got off more quickly on the bondage and submission clips. All it was, though, was fantasy. It wasn’t for Sol, phone tech by day and gamer by night.

He had to compose himself, to remember reality could be a bitch. Reality could hurt in nasty ways if he wasn’t careful. Sol had been hurt before by men and women who’d decided they were wasting their time with him.

“I’m not going to hurt you, Sol. I know what I’m doing,” Aries said in his maddening deep and soothing voice.

Sol didn’t want to look at Aries, didn’t want to be lured by the sound of his voice or the determined look in his eyes.

  “Look at me, sunshine.”

When Sol didn’t, Aries tilted his chin up with his large fingers. Excitement coursed through Sol at the thought of what those large hands were capable of.

  “Yes or no, Sol?”

Sol wanted to be away from The Ram. He wanted to be away from the thumping seductive music and from Aries’ inquisitive gaze.

Sol also wanted Aries more than he wanted anyone else, although he wasn’t sure why. Maybe because it was his first mating and he was horny as hell? It didn’t matter. Sol decided to stop caring and worrying so much.

  “Yes, okay?”

  “Wise decision, sunshine.”

  Chapter Two

Like a willing puppet being led on a string, he remembered Aries leading him outside, Aries passing him a spare motorcycle helmet, the hum of the bike between his legs, and clutching at the hard planes of Aries’ leather-clad body.

Sol felt a little tipsy, even though he hardly drank. Aries parked his bike at the curb and led Sol by hand inside his apartment building. The door shut behind them. Still feeling dazed, he let Aries peel his clothes off him. Realizing Aries was still dressed and giving his scrawny body a thorough appraisal, shame woke and flooded his body.

“Don’t cover yourself.” Aries’ growl made all the hairs of Sol’s neck stand. “I want to see you, all of you. You understand, sunshine? Cover your gorgeous body up again and I’ll bend you over my knee.”

Aries’ words made Sol weak in the knees. He was confused. A part of him actually wanted to fall over the other man’s broad and muscled lap and feel the heat of Aries’ hand coming down on his bottom. Sol shuddered, his hands shaking as they fell to his sides.

  “Perfect. Just perfect,” Aries murmured.

Aries sat against the sofa, and it felt odd to be the only one standing and exposed. Like he displayed himself solely for the pleasure of the other man. Sol wasn’t the kind of man most men and women desired, so a part of him still refused to believe anyone would want him this badly.

Cold and uncertain, he trembled until Aries pulled him to his lap.

“Hush, Sol. You have no reason to fear me, so just relax and enjoy yourself.”

“This is all wrong. I don’t know why I’m reacting like this.”

The press of Aries’ damning and hungry lips silenced Sol’s next words. The other shifter’s large hands sliding across his bare flesh made him shudder. His touch firm, possessive and leaving a trail of goose bumps.

Sol leaned into Aries, eager to rub his bare flesh against all that hard muscle.

The force of Aries’ desire flooded through his mouth like a broken dam, effectively silencing all his silly hesitations and worries. Sol groaned against Aries, who sucked tenderly on his bottom lip. Aries’ mouth felt unbelievably good.

Some part of Sol was aware of his needy and rising cock, but he no longer felt embarrassed or worried.

Their tongues touched each other tentatively at first before twining like mating snakes. Sol opened his mouth to let Aries’ demanding tongue inside, let the other man thrust his way in. He enjoyed Aries’ hands wandering across his body. Aries didn’t comment, didn’t make fun of the body Sol had always felt awkward and ashamed about. The other man handled him like an object worthy of desire and attention. Like a gift.

It thrilled Sol to the core. Fire licked at his belly and his cock, and his balls drew in tight against him.

“I want…” Sol panted when Aries stopped fucking his mouth.

  “What do you want, sunshine?”

“You.” The admission and need flowed out of him easily this time.

“I know, sunshine. First, I’ll give you what you badly need.”

“What?” Sol yelped and squirmed when Aries swiftly positioned him on his stomach and spread across Aries’ lap.

Reason returned to him. So did fear.

“Let me go. I don’t need a spanking. I’m not a damn kid. This is so fucked up.”

“Hush, sunshine. Trust me. I know what you want. This isn’t fucked up at all.” Aries gripped both his wrists with one hand behind his back. “If you think this is wrong, then why aren’t you struggling?”

Sol’s mind reeled. Why wasn’t he struggling?

“I’m fucked up. Something’s wrong with me. Please, Aries.”

“What are you really begging me for, Sol? Are you waiting for me to tell you you’re broken and fuck up?”

Sol’s face burned with shame. Why wasn’t Aries telling him those words?

“There’s nothing wrong with you, Sol. Nothing wrong with this. Stop being tense. Let yourself go. Yield to the sensations, and to me.”

Keeping his hands restrained with one hand, Aries speared the thick fingers through his hair, his touch gentle.

“What’s your safe word, Sol? If you think you can’t take anymore, say it and I’ll stop.”

Each word falling from Aries’ lip made his body grow limp. Why was he fighting this so hard?

  “Your safeword, sunshine?”

Sol could give Aries an answer. He could do this. Step by step.

  “Magnolia.”

  “Magnolia, then.”

The hand in his hair disappeared. His ears caught the delicious sound of slithering leather. Aries was pulling off his belt, using it to keep Sol’s hands bound behind his back. The leather against his wrist felt…what did it feel?

It felt unbelievably good and right. It gave him the illusion of being restrained, but he knew he could tell Aries to stop anytime. Sol didn’t know why he trusted the man so much, but he did. Despite his size and appearance, Aries handled him like he was going to break at any moment.

It felt good being told there was absolutely nothing wrong with him, and this was all natural. His bare skin caressing the soft leather of Aries’ jeans was unbelievably good.

“Is it going to hurt?” Sol whispered. Aried began palming one of his buttocks.

“At first, but you’re going to enjoy it real soon. Trust me on this, sunshine.”

The first slap stung like hell. Aries’ hand crackled loudly as it smacked his flesh, making Sol cry out. The second and third were the same, but Sol’s face was beginning to grow red, not with anger but with embarrassment.

He wondered if Aries could feel his strained cock growing thicker and longer with each resounding slap.

“Fuck, Aries,” Sol cursed as the large hand came down his stinging bottom, the blow heavy and harder than the others.

&
nbsp; “The first few blows were warm-ups, sunshine. Surely, you know you can take more.”

Aries’ hand descended on his aching bottom, but they were palming and massaging his cheeks again. The unexpected gentleness began to drive Sol’s mind into a floating space of ecstasy.

“I can’t…” Sol’s voice drifted, then the hand disappeared.

The next swat was the same as the last, stinging, heavy and much harder. It broke his momentary cloud of bliss.

“I can’t do this, Aries!” he shrieked. “I can’t handle this. Let me go.”

“You can, sunshine. This isn’t for me. I’m doing this for you. This is what you need and you know it. Now start counting.”

“…Three.” Gods. The actual spanking hurt much worse than the warm-up, but Aries was right.

A part of Sol wanted the pain, even sought and craved it. The pain made his mind spiral, made it aware of sensation.

Sol’s life hadn’t felt real. Each day he’d counted down the hours at work so he could get home, start up his computer, put on his headphones and plug into a world of dragons and knights or spacecrafts and plasma guns. The next day, he’d follow the same routine.

Sol couldn’t take living in the real world. Reality was a confusing mess to him, so he’d lived in a place of make-believe. Right up until he was bitten and forced to look and see the reality he’d always avoided.

Aries’ lap, his aching cock and his reddening ass were real.

“Thirty.” Sol practically screamed out the last word.

His hair was plastered close to his skull, his body sweat-soaked and limp. The world righted itself again when he felt Aries’ thick fingers spearing through his hair, while the other stroked his heated ass.

“There, Sol. I got you.” His words sounded soothing in Sol’s ears. “You’re breathing more easily now.”

The hand on the curve of his ass cheek slid lower and found the puckered flesh of his slit. Sol squirmed, but with his hands restrained and his body at the mercy of another, he couldn’t do much. He wasn’t fighting because he wanted to resist, he was fighting because he needed to ease the ache in his cock.
